In our continuous efforts to understand and serve our international visitors better, the Department of Tourism (DoT) collaborated with the Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO), Vanuatu National Statistics Office (VNSO), Airports Vanuatu Limited (AVL), and the Vanuatu Skills Partnership (VSP) to carry out a pivotal International Consumer Research Survey. Conducted at the Port Vila International Airport from October 1 to October 21, 2022, the research gleaned valuable insights from our esteemed guests.
The team managed to interact with 635 international visitors departing from Port Vila, obtaining their experiences and impressions of Vanuatu. Notably, a significant 82% were here for leisure, with 9% on business trips and another 5% citing visits to friends and family as their primary purpose.
It brings us immense pride to share that the core highlights for most visitors were the local tours, activities, and, most prominently, the warm interactions with the local Ni-Vanuatu. As VTO's Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Adela Issachar Aru, aptly put it, the genuine smiles and unmatched hospitality of our people have been drawing visitors back repeatedly.
The aim of this research was twofold. Firstly, to confirm and quantify the positives that we've always believed define the Vanuatu experience. Secondly, to identify areas that might need attention and enhancement, ensuring every visitor leaves with lasting memories.
The insights from this research will be instrumental for both DoT and VTO in refining our tourism offerings. We believe in transparency and will be sharing the summarized findings and other pivotal insights on the VTO official website for all stakeholders and interested parties.
