Monday, February 10, 2025 - Port Vila, Vanuatu - Guests aboard the Le Jacques Cartier thoroughly enjoyed their experience in Vanuatu, basking in the island’s beautiful beach bar vibes, swimming in the crystal-clear waters, and sipping on refreshing drinks and champagne.
On Sunday, February 9, the luxury cruise ship docked at Lamen Bay, Epi Island, with fewer than 100 passengers onboard, marking the return of cruise tourism to the island. This visit is seen as a significant step towards revitalizing tourism in the region.
The visit was hailed as a resounding success by Trek Vanuatu (Vanuatu cruise tour operator), who managed the ground logistics of the visit. “We are thrilled to announce that the cruise ship visit to Lamen Bay was a success,” said a spokesperson from Trek Vanuatu.
“It’s been some time since we’ve had a cruise ship call at Epi, and we’re pleased to report that the logistics were managed seamlessly, and the community was absolutely delighted by the visit.” He continued.
The Government, through the Department of Tourism (DoT), with assistance from the local Area Administrator and Mrs. Isabelle Donald, ensured a smooth and successful welcome for the ship’s guests, providing a positive guest experience and facilitating tours on the island.
The ship has now continued on its journey, with planned visits to North Ambrym and Santo as part of its itinerary.
The community at Epi Island has expressed immense joy and gratitude for the cruise ship's visit, highlighting the significant economic and tourism opportunities these visits bring to local communities.
The Department of Tourism encourages all visitors and local stakeholders to continue supporting sustainable tourism initiatives and contributing to the ongoing development of Vanuatu’s tourism sector.
